| | You must contact Viewsonic for customer support on all problems requiring warranty service. They can be reached at 1-800-688-6688. If the item is less then seven (7) days old, from the date of purchase (in the case of an internet order, the date you signed for the item), you may return the item for warranty to our store, however beyond this period of time Viewsonic is the sole provider of any and all support on the item. | | Author: richard@pccanada.com |

| Date:11/3/2003 2:15:16 PM | How many dead pixels does someone have to have before they can warranty their Samsung LCD Display?
| | Just because dead pixels are inevitable, it doesn''t mean all you can do is cross your fingers and hope for the best. If the number of dead pixels exceeds a certain amount, you can return it for a new one. The acceptable level of dead pixels in a single display varies from one manufacturer to another. For obvious reasons display makers do not make the information widely available to the public. The return policies are different according to each manufacturer but it is generally considered 10 dead pixels or less is the acceptable level. More than 10, you should be able to get a new one, hassle free.

| Date:2/15/2003 11:30:45 AM | How many dead pixels does someone have to have before they can warranty their KDS LCD Display?
| | Pixel Defects: A number of pixel defects are expected on LCD panels and do not constitute a defective display. Each pixel on an LCD screen is made up of red, green, and blue sub pixels. Due to variables within the manufacturing process, some of these sub pixels become stuck in either the on or the off state. A stuck pixel appears as a small red, green, or blue dot for stuck-on pixels, or a small black dot for stuck-off pixels. Stuck pixels are only visible with contrasting backgrounds. In order to provide a reasonable price, LCD manufacturers allow a small number of stuck pixels in their quality control specifications. Most panels allow 10-15 stuck pixels. Each 15" LCD panel has 786,432 pixels. Red, green and blue transistors control each pixel, which means there are 2.4 million transistors in each 15" panel.

| Date:2/15/2003 11:21:01 AM | How many dead pixels does someone have to have before they can warranty their ViewSonic LCD Display?
| | To ensure the highest performing displays, ViewSonic sets limits as to the allowable number of pixel anomalies. ViewSonic has adopted the following pixel criteria to supplement their existing three-year limited warranty. This policy applies to all ViewSonic LCD displays during the warranty period.
ViewSonic sets limits on 14" - 15" LCD''s at 4 bright sub-pixels, 4 dark sub-pixels, or a combination of 4.
ViewSonic sets limits on 17" - 19" LCD''s at 7 bright sub-pixels, 7 dark sub-pixels, or a combination of 7.
ViewSonic sets limits on 20" & greater LCD''s at 10 bright sub-pixels, 10 dark sub-pixels, or a combination of 10.
It is possible that any replacement display may also have some non-performing sub-pixels. This should be considered when requesting a warranty exchange.
